Have you ever wondered what the etiquette is to network with someone in a wheelchair? Stacey Copas shares the do’s and don’ts and other incredible insights into her journey in this episode of the Resiliency Ninja podcast with Allison Graham.
Stacey Copas and I find common ground as we unpack her experiences with resiliency. Stacey faced a life changing event at a young age leaving her in a wheelchair and yet, she lives a full life. Not victim trap for her!
Many people who faced that situation at a young age may have chosen a limited life – not Stacey! She’s Australia’s resiliency speaker and inspiring thousands with her story of grit. Stacey does not allow her limited mobility to hold her back in the slightest with accomplishments such as being a successful para-athlete, acting and running for parliament, to name a few. Stacey takes a “say yes” approach to life. Stacey Copas is a true example of a Resiliency Ninja.
One question I asked her towards the end – albeit awkwardly – is the proper etiquette for networking with someone in a wheelchair. It’s always something I’ve struggled with not knowing what to do. I hope this gives you an answer if you’ve wondered about it too. I loved her attitude and how she can laugh about things.
She also shares insights on how physically difficult it is for someone in a wheelchair to travel on an airplane. Something many of us road warriors may take for granted. It is definitely an eye opening conversation about society’s need to take better action to be more accessible.
